NewsMISSIONARY SOCIETIES OF APOSTOLIC LIFE (MISAL) CONFERENCE 2016
On April 5-9, 2016, Fr. Eladio B. Oliver, MSP, the current Superior General of the Mission Society of the Philippines, accompanied by Fr. Rommel T. Cruz, MSP attended the Conference of Missionary Societies of Apostolic Life in Mexico City hosted by the Guadalupe Fathers. A total of 45 delegates, 21 of whom are the Superior Generals (one was elected bishop), attended this year’s conference under a theme “Influence of Evangelii Gaudium and Laudato si in our Societies of Apostolic Life.” Fr. Jack Lynch who was the main speaker emphasized that as Societies of Apostolic Life we are challenged to implement Pope Francis’ exhortations for our respective communities. He highlighted that as individuals and as Societies we need to examine our lifestyle and our mission priorities. We need to review our formation programs and investments to ensure that they are consistent with our missionary goals and the Pope’s teachings. On the last day of the meeting, each society of apostolic life shared its own vision and mission statement as they looked together for more cooperation and practical ways of helping each other especially in the mission fields. |
