On Sunday, June 13, 2025, following the Holy Mass, Fr. Reginaldo Lavilla, MSP, the Father Moderator of the Mission Society of the Philippines led the Mission Sending Rite of the Fil-Mission Auxiliary Association (FMAA), a lay partner organization of the Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP). Rooted in faith and service, the FMAA shares in the missionary work of the Church by promoting missionary awareness among the Filipino faithful and other cultures, supporting MSP priests and seminarians, and striving for the sanctification of its members through active missionary engagement.

This mission sending is a powerful reminder that the work of evangelization is not reserved for priests and religious alone—it is a mission entrusted to the whole People of God. Each baptized person is called to be a witness of Christ’s love in their everyday lives, in their communities, and to the ends of the earth.
The timing of this mission sending is especially significant. The Church in Quebec, once a vibrant center of missionary outreach—having sent so many missionaries, including to the Philippines—is now experiencing a time of spiritual and institutional decline. Today, the mission field has shifted. Now, it is our turn to give back—to walk humbly but boldly as missionaries of faith, hope, and charity in a land that once nourished the faith of many.

This is a mission not only across cultures and continents but across hearts—offering accompaniment, presence, and witness where the light of the Gospel is most needed. The FMAA members in Montreal go forth not as strangers, but as brothers and sisters in faith, bringing with them the richness of Filipino spirituality, hospitality, and resilience.

We entrust the FMAA-Montreal to the maternal care of Our Lady of the Philippines, and to the intercession of our Filipino saints, San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod. May they guide and protect our mission partners, strengthen them in their commitment, and inspire others to respond generously to the call of mission in today’s world.
