ECM AND PMS ORGANIZED A COMMON SENDOFF CEREMONY FOR FILIPINO MISSIONARIES

The CBCP's Episcopal Commission on Mission, headed by the Most Rev Edwin dela Pena MSP, and Pontifical Mission Societies - Philippines, whose director is Fr Soc Mesiona MSP, organized a common liturgical sendoff of Filipino missionaries on July 9, 2011, 10:00am, at the St Scholastica’s College chapel in Manila.

The mission “sending” ceremony took place within the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, and thirty (30) priests, nuns, and lay missionaries participated in the event. The participating priests included the MSP, SVD, Rogationist, MJ, Comboni, and OSJ congregations. The congregations of sisters who joined were CSFN, FMM, and Religious Missionaries of St Benedict. The lay missionaries who came to join were members of Couples for Christ. These lay missionaries will be going to the African countries of Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Seychelles.

The MSP priests who were “sent” in the ceremony were: 1) Fr Percy Singco (Papua New Guinea); 2) Fr Dano Zerna (Papua New Guinea); 3) Fr Macky Calo (Netherlands); and 4) Fr Bebot Galo (Cook Islands).
