SACERDOTAL ORDINATION OF FR HAMILTON CRUZ AND FR JOSE NORELLA

Last April 6, 2013, two MSP deacons were finally ordained to the priesthood. They are Fr Hamilton Cruz of Baliuag, Bulacan, and Fr Jose Norella III of Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro. The ordination ceremonies took place within the holy Eucharistic celebration at the Lay Formation Center Chapel in Guadalupe, Makati and it was presided by His Eminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Archbishop Emeritus of Manila.

Two Japanese bishops also concelebrated with the Cardinal. They are Most Rev Paul Otsuka of the Diocese of Kyoto, and Most Rev Berard Oshikawa of the Diocese of Naha in Okinawa Island. Also present were the MSP Father Moderator, Fr Alfredo Africa Jr. and some other MSP priests, as well as SVD priests and guest priests. Aside from families, relatives and friends of the ordinands, there was a group of Japanese Catholics who attended the celebration.

Fr Cruz was once assigned to the Diocese of Naha for his Overseas Training Program, while Fr Norella finished his theological studies in a Tokyo Seminary under the auspices of the Diocese of Kyoto. Fr Cruz is assigned as missionary to the Diocese of Naha while Fr Norella is assigned as missionary to the Diocese of Kyoto.
