SEND OFF OF THE NEW BEARERS OF HOPE

“Wherever you go, whatever situation you are in; always remember, the Holy Spirit is the principal agent of mission. It is the holy spirit who will guide you.” These were the words of the MSP Father Moderator; Fr. Eladio Oliver, in his homily during the send-off mass for Fr. Patricio Casino, MSP and Fr. Freddie Dizon, MSP. Both of them in their parting words, accepted this new challenge in their life as missionary priests of the Mission Society of the Philippines.

Fr. Pat who served for several years as MSP Secretary General, is leaving for mission in the Netherlands. He is scheduled to leave today, May 12, 2015. This is his first foreign mission as a priest besides his overseas training stint in Papua New Guinea many years ago as a seminarian.

Meanwhile, Fr. Freddie is scheduled to leave on May 20, 2015 for Thailand. This is his new mission assignment, after serving as a missionary in Australia.

Both of them expressed excitement and apprehension for what lay ahead of them in their respective destinations. Moreovever, both of them claim, that their faith in the Holy Spirit is the source of their strength in their mission. Fr. Pat in his parting words, recalled the words of Fr. Ruben Elago, regarding mission:  as missionaries, our life is a life of appearance and disappearance. Thus we must be ready to appear and disappear when we are called to mission.

To you, Fr. Pat and Fr. Freddie, we, your family, friends and confreres in the MSP, wish you both the best. Bring with you our sincere prayers. May the love of God be with you always. Have a safe and pleasant journey.
