Fr. Jun Tacaisan, MSP arrived in Seoul, S. Korea on July 4, 2008. He was on a vacation after more than seven years of being a formator in our seminary in Tagaytay City, Philippines. I invited him to spend some time with us in Korea.
He spent the last two months helping me in serving the pastoral needs of the Filipino migrants community. He said Masses on Sundays for the Filipinos at Hwehwadong Parish, and also at the Filipino Center on weekdays. He stayed as in-charged of the chaplaincy when I took my two-week annual break in the Philippines last month. Although, he is diabetic he continues to show his missionary zeal, taking part in the busy ministry for the Filipino migrants here in Korea.
To show the gratitude of the Filipino community to Fr. Jun, I toured him to Jeju Island on September 1-2. Jeju is the Boracay of Korea, and its honeymoon capital. Some popular Korean TV series in the Philippines are taken here.
The flight from Kimpo took one hour and five minutes to reach Jeju City. We were booked on a package tour that took us on a whole-day-sightseeing trip at the island’s famous spots; such as the mysterious road, traditional village, scenic hills, horse farms, and beaches. Fr. Jun certainly enjoyed the Jeju seafood prepared in a Korean way – raw. Our visit to Jeju was very short but worthwhile. The next day, September 2, we left the beautiful island at noon time. Upon arriving at Kimpo Airport, we proceeded to Inchon Airport where Fr. Jun took his flight in the evening for the Philippines. Thank you very much Fr. Jun.
