PRIESTS GATHERED IN CEBU FOR THE ANNUAL RETREAT

THE MSP PRIESTS serving in the Philippines gathered together for the annual retreat at the MSP Seminary in Tayud (Cebu) from Oct 6- 10, 2008. There were nineteen participants in this retreat: sixteen priests and three deacons. Fr Fil Mahusay, an MSP missionary in Thailand, also came to join the spiritual activity.

The retreat master was Fr Pat de los Reyes, an SVD priest who was once assigned in Botwana (Africa) and is presently involved in his congregation’s JPIC (Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation) work and in retreat-giving apostolate. In line with the Pauline year celebration, Fr de los Reyes began his reflection with the dramatic conversion of St Paul. He then talked about human struggles and stressors. Coming to terms with these, he said, is a road towards conversion.

The gathering was also an occasion for further sharing with one another. On the last day of the retreat, the Fil-Mission Auxiliary Association (FMAA) members in Cebu came and brought two pieces of roasted pigs, as a treat for the priests-on-retreat. They joined in the Eucharistic celebration as well as in the subsequent lunch.
