POLA ORGANIZES THE FIRST MARIAN FLUVIAL PROCESSION ALONG PASIG RIVER
THE PARISH OF OUR LADY OF THE ABANDONED (POLA) in Hulo, Mandaluyong City celebrates its fiesta this weekend, May 15-16, 2010. Part of the weekend festivities is the First Fluvial Procession on May 15, 2010 along the Pasig River. POLA organized the event and coordinated it with the two other Our Lady of the Abandoned (OLA) parishes in Marikina and Sta. Ana, together with the Department of Tourism, Pasig Ferry Boats, National Coast Guard, and MMDA.
The activity started at 1:00pm. The Marian devotees of OLA- Marikina, headed by Fr Nante Tolentino, organized a motorcade from Marikina to Guadalupe Ferry Station. There the devotees of the other OLA parishes met. There was a formal welcoming of those who joined, and the priests blessed the ferry boats and the people. Then the three ferry boats proceeded to Escolta Ferry Station in Manila. There was a “banda” which awaited the devotees. A little later, the devotees returned and halted at the Sta. Ana Ferry Station. There was a procession going to the OLA Church- Sta. Ana. A warm welcome awaited the devotees through folk dances presented by children. Afterward, the ferry boats brought the devotees to Hulo Ferry Station and, there was a procession toward the POLA Church-Mandaluyong for the celebration of the holy Eucharist at around 6:30pm. After the mass, there was a program and food prepared by the POLA parishioners.
The MSP priests who joined the fluvial procession were Frs Lads Oliver, Robert Saballo, Nilo Pacuribot, Arvin Mosqueda, Gerome Hernandez, Mawe Jadraque, and Rev Randy Gumanit. The POLA has been administered by the MSP since 1987.
